Born in Messina (Italy) in 1987, Marco had his debut as an orchestra conductor at the age of 24 with the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina. In July 2012, he made his operatic debut conducting Rossini’s Adina at the Rossini Festival in Wildbad. Later in August 2016 he made his first appearance at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro conducting a Rossini Concert starring soprano Pretty Yende and mezzo-soprano Aya Wakizono.

Marco studied orchestral conducting with Gianandrea Noseda, Donato Renzetti, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Antonino Fogliani, Lutz Köhler, Vittorio Parisi, Romolo Gessi and Giuseppe Lanzetta. He is fundamentally a pianist, with a Bachelor degree from Messina, and then continued with his Masters in orchestral conducting, graduating with highest honors from the conservatory of G. On a more practical level, Marco worked as an assistant to conductor Fogliani in many well-renown theaters. He was also assistant conductor to Domingo Hindoyan and recently has been invited to assist conductor Iván Fischer for a Falstaff production in Budapest and Vicenza.

Starting late 2014 his activity as a conductor has become increasingly more significant. He made his debuts with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo and subsequently with the Orchestra del Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina. Later he had his first conducting appearance with the laVerdi Orchestra in Milan in the production of Bluebeard’s Castle by Béla Bartók in the occasion of EXPO 2015. His highlights of the 2015/16 season at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele included Beethoven 6th symphony directed and choreographed by Micha Van Hoecke, the New Year’s Concert of 2016 and lastly conducting the Opera of La Bohème by Puccini.

Last June he conducted two concerts with the Orchestra di Toscana Classica starring world-renowned pianist Giuseppe Andaloro. Later in July he made his first conducting appearance at the Festival di Spoleto conducting Delitto e Dovere by Alberto Colla.

His most recent engagements include: two concerts with the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, an invitation by Gianandrea Noseda to conduct Obiettivo Orchestra, Delitto e Dovere at the Teatro Coccia di Novara (broadcasted by Sky Classica HD), conducting Bellini’s Norma and finally conducing the 150th anniversary celebration concert of the Teatro del Popolo di Castelfiorentino, that was opened by Giuditta Pasta in December 1867.

This year he returned on the podium of the TVE di Messina conducting The New Year’s Concert. Last month he was back conducting Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina and Orchestra di Toscana Classica. On April 28th he conducted Suor Angelica by Puccini and Billy Budd by Ghedini at the conservatory of G. Verdi in Milano and in May he conducted La Cenerentola staged by Gianmaria Aliverta for VoceAllOpera, based in Milano. In the summer of 2018 he will conduct Beatrice di Tenda in Tenda (CRT Foundation). Next season he will return to conduct Obiettivo Orchestra with the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina and TVE di Messina, as well as debuting with Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Albania staged by Marco Gandini.
